On Roblox, place administration (or simply admin) refers to a set of tools used by developers and other certain users to moderate visitors of an experience. Administrative tools are often in the form of scripts with an ability to kick or ban. Some administrative tools also provide other abilities such as teleportation, muting, shutting down a server, inserting models, retrieving building tools, and storing chat/admin logs. Administrative tools are also used to debug a place.

Most administrative tools implement ranks to determine how much power users of a given rank can use. Administrators or simply admins usually have the most power while moderators or simply mods have less power than admins. "Banned" or "muted" ranks may also be implemented.

Administrative tools are also provided by other users, usually in the form of Creator Marketplace models.

Command scripts[]

A command script is a script that allows certain users to perform certain actions via commands. Commands are usually inputted through the chat or through a GUI text box which is usually toggled by a hotkey. The most popular and most well-known command script is HD Admin, followed by Kohl's Admin, being followed by Person299's admin command script then by LuaModelMaker's admin.

Command scripts will accept commands, most of which will also accept arguments, which will be separated from each other's and from the command using a separator character (usually the space character). Many command scripts will also require commands to be prefixed by a symbol, such as a semicolon or colon, to distinguish commands from normal chat (if the command script uses the chat to listen for commands).

Graphical tools[]

With the arrival of GUIs, many users have created administrative tools that use an interface instead of plain text commands, like command scripts. Many administrative tools that act like command scripts can, in fact, can be used either through plain text commands or with an interactive interface (e.g. Quenty's GUI admin commands).
