A Pirate's Life is a pirate role playing game. It is created by Lando64000, and is Lando64000's second most played game after Hide and Seek (41 Fields). A Pirate's Life has over 4.75 million visits, and over 175,000 favorites.

Due to some hacking and exploiting at some of its times, many players had stopped playing A Pirate's Life. However, the popularity highly increased on June 6, 2013, through a large update that added automatic saving/loading of the player's treasures, items, and bank storage, dynamic lighting that added lights at night alongside a torch tool that can be purchased from the shop for 3 treasures for portable lighting at night, along with bug fixes on the cutlass, item regeneration upon the player's death, and the binoculars.

Gameplay[]

There are two teams that players can be placed in: Port Pirates and Cave Pirates.

There are several things that the player can do in A Pirate's Life; The player may kill other players, fish, get treasure, or lead other players to battle with one another. Treasure is the in-game currency of the game. Fishing, stealing, killing, selling items to NPCs and finding treasure will give the player some treasure. To fish, the player needs to get near a body of water, take out their rod, and then left-click. Once the bobber on the water goes down the water, the player should left-click again as soon as the bobber sinks to catch a fish, otherwise the bobber moves up and left-clicking will yield no fish.

The player will then get either a fish, lobster, shark, or squid, which are worth 1, 2, 3, or 4 treasure(s) respectively. The player can earn treasure from treasure chests from the center island, by going through the waterfall, on top of it during winter through ice blocks that are on it, or by going to the ledges on the sides of Cave Pirate's cave. They can be collected by clicking on a small button that seals the chest without holding any tool and using the "Interact" tool to take the treasure that is inside. The treasure chests from the island, the ledge, and the waterfall inside yields 5 treasures per interact, and the one that is above the waterfall yield 10 treasures. Stealing treasure from the opposite team can be far more difficult than the options listed above, depending on the situation. In order to steal enemies' treasures, the player must go to the opposite team's area, go to their bank, and click 'withdraw' on an enemy's bank to steal their money while avoiding death. The final method of getting treasure is to kill an enemy player. When a player dies, they have a chance to drop all of their held treasure, which can be claimed by walking over a small piece of gold that is dropped from the corpse and indicates how many treasure that is dropped.

Treasure is used to buy items in the item shop. The items that are available are: Cutlasses, pirate juice, wallets (large and huge), flintlocks, food packs, pets, blunderbusses, rods (super and rainbow), and a grenade. Pirate juice can only be used once per life but heals all of the user's health. wallets increase the player's maximum treasure from 15 to 30 or 50, depending on the size of it. Better rods, such as the Rainbow Rod, increase the chance of getting rarer fishes. The food pack is used to pick fruit from a team's garden at certain times in summer and fall. The food pack can only hold 1 fruit at a time. The collected fruit can be sold to a pirate for 5 treasures per fruit.

The player may buy boats to move around in the water in A Pirate's Life. This is the only way to move in water, as contact with water will very quickly deplete the player's character's health or kill it within a few seconds. When an owner dies, his/her boat sinks, except for the ship. The ship may be accessed by the owner's entire team for 2 treasures. Boats may only be destroyed by explosions or the owner's death. The ship has many advantages to other boats such as large amounts of health, allowing it to endure repeated attacks, 6 cannons to attack the enemy, team accessibility, and protection. Only one ship may be bought for each team.

There are 5 boats listed in price order:

  • Dinghy - 3 Treasure
  • 2 Seated Dinghy - 5 Treasure
  • Speed Dinghy - 8 Treasure
  • Cannon Dinghy - 16 Treasure
  • Ship - 30 Treasure

Finally, there is the seasons. Each season has a significant effect to it. The latter half of summer and all of fall will grow crops. From 2 AM to 6 PM in-game time in spring, there will be a thunderstorm. Thunder will strike randomly around the map, killing anyone it strikes. Winter will create glaciers around the map; they may be used as an impractical mode of transportation, getting the kraken's jewel, or getting above the waterfall for more treasure.

Weapons[]

There are 5 weapons to choose from.

  • Flintlock - 25 Treasure*
  • Blunderbuss - 50 Treasure*
  • Cutlass - 10 Treasure**
  • Pirate Hook - Default weapon**.
  • Grenade - 45 Treasure***
  • The flintlock and blunderbuss fire shots that ricochet (bounce around) and instantly kill any opposing team's player, but both weapons need to reload after firing. The blunderbuss fires 5 shots that ricochet even more than the flintlock's balls.
    • Cutlass is a stronger melee than the pirate hook. The cutlass and hook will increase in damage if the player is wearing the pirate hat.
      • The grenade is a once-per-life weapon that explodes and can harm boats and enemies alike.

A Pirate's Quest[]

A copy of the game, called 'A Pirate's Quest' by tytyty, had some differences. The Port Pirates were now called the English and the Cave Pirates called the Pirates. A third team was added, the French. A Prison boat, which was like a ship just with a jail cell and one cannon on the bow (front) was added. And there was a new weapon, the musket, costing 60 Treasue and was like the Flintlock, just with better accuracy and range.

For some time this game beat the original to the top, as players enjoyed not having to pay to get the best gear, even if your items did not save across game sessions. Eventually, it was deleted.

Glitches[]

Flying Glitch

  • There was a glitch that allowed the player's character to fly up when they are not holding any tools. This glitch has been fixed.
  • The cutlass used to be broken prior to the June 6 major update; it would only slash or stick without doing damage.
  • There is a glitch in which if a player from one team stole from someone at the other team, the player who was stolen from can't use their own bank.
