Trouble in ROBLOX Town! is a ROBLOX recreation of a popular game mode in Garry's Mod (a sandbox physics game), "Trouble in Terrorist Town".

Gameplay[]

In the game, players are separated into three uneven teams, innocents (the most numerous, at 62.5% of the total amount of players in the server), detectives (only a few, at 12.5% of the total players in the game), and traitors (less than innocents, yet more than detectives, at 25% of the total players). The distribution of players into the teams depend on how many players are in the server. For example, if there are 12 players in a server and all players are about to be assigned, about 7 players would become innocents, 2 players will be a detective, and the rest of the 3 players would be traitors.

Innocents need to survive from danger of traitors who can attempt to blend in and act as innocents. The traitors can all tell who other traitors are, and it's their job to kill every innocents and detective(s). Detectives can determine who someone was killed by using the DNA Scanner to track down the killer by the wounds on the corpse, and a label appears over their head with the text 'Detective'.

All players will, at the beginning of the round, start out with a crowbar, but traitors and detectives have the ability to start off with their ranged weapon of choice, alongside a crowbar. Detectives also start off with a DNA scanner to be able to track down the killer of the corpse. To aid the players in combatting the opposite team, suitcases can randomly spawn in the map, with the large black ones filled with a random ranged weapon and the smaller green ones filled with ammunition for the player's weapons. In addition, players can purchase various items for a round that can support the player, such as weapons and armor, and some of these items are exclusive to a certain team, more specifically the detectives and traitors.

The innocents and detectives have to try and figure out who among the crowd is a traitor, and kill them before they are killed themselves. Paranoia is vital to survival in this game of alertness, and isolation from the crowd can have varying effects in gameplay depending on the players who are playing at the place. Innocent players must watch for signs of suspicious activity to spot traitors, including following and/or aiming at an innocent. As a traitor, the player must try to blend in with the innocents until a good timing for the opportunity to kill every innocents and/or detectives on sight presents itself, or run around going berserk, attempting to kill every innocent and detective on sight until the traitor is killed or every innocent and detective are killed either by him/herself or another traitor. Detectives can make judgements to help determine who the traitors are. The game ends when either all innocents and detectives are killed (resulting in a win for the traitors) or when all traitors are killed (resulting in a win for the innocents and detectives).

The game utilizes a "karma" system for manipulating the damage dealt by the player, in that higher karma allows damage to be fully dealt, while lower ones greatly decrease the damage done. Karma can be decreased by injuring and/or killing the player on the same team, yet can be increased by harming and/or killing the player on the opposite team. The Karma system is implemented to discourage the act of "Random Deathmatch" (RDM), or the random killing of all players, regardless of whether or not the player that (s)he is killing is on the same team, which is especially prevalent when the perpentrator is an innocent.

Revival Updates and Sequel Game[]

As of early 2015, users lapladav and ToaTahu003 have made various updates and bug fixes to encourage popularity to return to the game under the guidance of Mahem. These updates are still ongoing as user ToaTahu003 has continued development of the game after the initial revival was first started.

Ammo boxes, which didn't work as intended and required players to push the backspace button to correctly refill your weapon with ammunition, was fixing during one of the revival updates made during Spring of 2015. This was caused by weapons only attempting to check the ammunition value once before stopping the script, hence a player couldn't refill their weapon if there weren't any clips remaining in the weapon.

Trivia[]

This section is a trivia section. Please relocate any relevant information into other sections of the article.

  • This is one of the most famous games on ROBLOX that uses only bubble chat. (Bar chat does NOT appear)
  • Before ammo boxes were properly fixed, a player would be required to push backspace to refill their ammunition for their weapons. This method was stated by Mahem, the creator, to temporally fix this problem.
  • Mahem, the creator, had renewed Builders Club when it expired so that players have the option to purchase VIP and additional points via game passes. However, he raised the price of the Ray Gun game pass weapon (due to the abuse of the weapon), which is powerful in comparison to the other weapons in the game. ROBLOX has now allowed developers to create and sell game passes without Builders Club required, hence game passes are left on sale all the time.
  • A total of 8 game passes are available, with 5 of them being additional points to use in the shop, one of them being a "Light Pack" which provides a torch and flashlight to use in dark places, and the rest being the Ray Gun and Ray Gun Mark 2, both of which are powerful laser weapons that deal more damage, has more range, and reload quicker.
  • The TRT Video was made by one of Mahem's friends, MekaX. It was later taken down due to unknown reasons despite being a popular influence to many new players.
  • In early April 2014, TRT got almost completely taken over by hackers, reducing its daily player rate by a lot. In response to this, user lapladav asked Mahem to remake the game. Mahem has asked a close friend of his, jayskull900, to help him script the new game, TRT V2
  • During the revival update referred by a version number 1.0.5, many players disliked the change to weapon mechanics, because of this update's negative influence among the community, it was shortly reverted to the previous version to undo the weapon changes.
