"Become a wealthy merchant or the world's most fearsome pirate: the choice is yours in Tradelands!"

Tradelands is an 18th - 19th century based naval game created by Nahr_Nahrstein. The game was first created in December 2014 and became playable in 2015 through paid beta. The game fully released to the public in June 2016.

Gameplay[]

Tradelands is a naval game that focuses its gameplay on owning ships that players can travel, trade, and fight with them. Tradelands also offers PVP, material gathering, crafting, pirating, naval battles, and various other activities. Tradelands has a wide range of ships, from simple leisure boats to large trading vessels, steamships, and armed combat crafts.

There are currently five playable factions in Tradelands: the Kingdom of Whitecrest, Nova Balreska, and The Republic of Nassau are peaceful and merchant factions. Blackwind Pirates is self-explanatory, and Hallengard leans more on the Viking-based experience. There are even non-playable factions that contribute to the gameplay experience. The ones we currently know are the Kingdom of Burkeland, Purshovia, and the Empire of Inyola.

Players can trade cargo to earn Doubloons, the main currency in the game, to buy resources, houses, ships, and goods from other players. Pirates prioritize stealing cargo to sell for themselves for three times the price through its black market system. A variety of features calculates cargo profits. A few examples could be the server size, distance, crew size, cargo type, and inflation rate. As of March 22, players can trade to the Kingdom of Burkeland and the eastern sea, which brought two islands by the name of Corsica and Weymouth.

Players can also gather resources, build tools and other items, customize houses, trade items with other players, and participate in official faction politics.

If you would like to get into Tradelands more in-depth, they have an official wiki which you can find by clicking here.

Lore[]

Lore plays a heavy role, in which players can apply to a navy to participate in official lore and faction battles which can shape the future of the game, depending on the outcome. None of their roleplay is scripted and receives its outcome from the players. Anything that happens in roleplay stays in the roleplay. For example, if a faction invades an island, it remains for everyone to see.

Factions can even destroy, annex, or conquer other factions. One good example includes the Verdantine Sovereignty, which was playable before they got annexed by a faction known as the Verner Expedition. Players in Verdantine would have their home island swapped and level experience transfer to Hallengard. Another good example would be the Hallengard removal from faction politics due to the result of annexation by Nova Balreska. The Verner Expedition would rename itself Nova Balreska due to the conclusion of the expedition.

The impact of lore could also alter the map. One example would be the changes of flags on multiple islands due to the exchange of ownership between faction politics and conflicts.

Economy[]

Tradelands has a thriving player-driven economy where you can harvest resources and sell them for doubloons. Prices constantly change due to the nature of supply and demand from players. Inside the Tradelands Discord, you can find the marketplace that is the best place to buy and sell materials and weapons. Players could also trade cosmetics, furniture, and other accessories for their avatar or in-game house.
