EffectsManager is a prototype service featured in Hack Week 2015 which could allow developers to add custom shaders into their places through the use of pixel shaders. Although the service has not been introduced, Roblox introduced post-processing effects, where some of effects demonstrated in hack week are used.
Functionality[]
The EffectsManager service would house LocalScripts. Each script would contain HLSL pixel shader code. Pixel shaders would then process each pixel with its color and depth information.
Post-processing effects[]
Some of these effects may have already introduced through classes such as PostEffect.
- Box Blur
- Cell Shading
- Depth of Field (DepthOfFieldEffect)
- Edge Detection
- Fog (similarly Atmosphere)
- FXAA (Roblox introduced and uses MSAA instead)
- Radial Blur
- Saturation (ColorCorrectionEffect's Saturation property)
- Wave Distortion
