I would really appreciate it if you would STOP adding pictures for deletion for once. Dronian (talk) 00:47, September 24, 2012 (UTC)

Ok. --Mark Otaris (talk) 00:51, September 24, 2012 (UTC)
The ideal would be to have an automated bot doing it, but they need to be checked by an human first anyway to make sure they couldn't still be useful in some way or another. --Mark Otaris (talk) 01:03, September 24, 2012 (UTC)

In response to your redirect commentEdit

You CAN rename a page without leaving a redirect. There's a checkbox that says Leave a redirect behind. Unchecking it will not put up a redirect. Dronian (talk) 01:05, December 4, 2012 (UTC)

No, no, I can't. Only admins see that check box. --Mark Otaris (talk) 01:25, December 4, 2012 (UTC)

Removing "all categories" Edit

Nope, removing all categories is a bad idea.   ColgatecityTalkContrib 20:53, December 17, 2012 (UTC)

Obviously that it's a bad idea. I wasn't actually suggesting it, just expressing the fact that it would be faster because it would save us all the organizational clean-up. It is obviously definitely not the thing to do, however. In fact, I don't really know what the thing to do here is, because the category system on this wiki is just too messed up to actually do anything... --Mark Otaris (talk) 20:58, December 17, 2012 (UTC)
The category system was designed by User:Isddd, who is now banned.

 ColgatecityTalkContrib 22:36, December 17, 2012 (UTC)

Designed by a single user? I doubt that. What makes a category system not consistent and messy is precisely when 100 people are working on it at different times with no coordination. --Mark Otaris (talk) 22:40, December 17, 2012 (UTC)

To answer your question, no. We are trying to make the wanted pages report smaller, but removing all the red links on the wiki isn't the solution to that. Red links are not necessarily unwanted. They should only be removed if the page they link to is a page that should not be created on this wiki. If the page should indeed be created, then they should be kept and the page should be created. -- Mark Otaris (talk) 23:50, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
ohhh but if the page was deleted the link is unwanted? Epiccookie11 23:52, December 22, 2012 (UTC)epiccokie11Epiccookie11 23:52, December 22, 2012 (UTC)
Not necessarily, though it will often be the case. Sometimes, a page may have been deleted for various reasons but still should be on the wiki. Often, though, the page was deleted because someone created it although it shouldn't be there. -- Mark Otaris (talk) 00:00, December 23, 2012 (UTC)
kk thx btw y does it say dec 23 on ur last post? its 22nd in usaEpiccookie11 00:02, December 23, 2012 (UTC)

2013 User of the Year PollEdit

Do we change the User of the Year Poll? We already know who won. Please reply. Tiff or Nick

By changing it, do you mean transforming it into a new poll for 2013? If so, then I think it's way too soon. You should post about it on the forum. -- Mark Otaris (talk) 06:18, December 23, 2012 (UTC)

Stop Undoing My EditsEdit

I'm removing broken links as a part of the Clockwork Wiki Project. Stop undoing my edits.

They're not broken links, they are red links. Red links should only be removed from pages if they are linking to pages that should not be created. Considering the links you removed link to pages that should be created, they should not be removed. -- Mark Otaris (talk) 01:53, December 24, 2012 (UTC)
You should discuss this on the talk page, not keep reverting it and start an edit war. -- Mark Otaris (talk) 01:59, December 24, 2012 (UTC)

Categorys Edit

Why are you removeing all categorys from things? Epiccookie11 00:12, January 8, 2013 (UTC)Epiccookie11Epiccookie11 00:12, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

I remove categories from pages when they don't belong on those pages. --Mark Otaris (talk) 00:15, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

Bot flag Edit

I'm going to (eventually) give your bot a flag so it doesn't spam our wiki activity.

 ColgatecityTalkContrib 12:05, January 10, 2013 (UTC)

Yeah. I was going to post on the wiki's forum about it. For now, I made sure the bot made all its edits minor, so they can be hidden, and I also ran it at a time where mostly nobody was online, so it wouldn't perturb people monitoring the recent changes (there wasn't much to monitor, anyway, since everyone was offline). --Mark Otaris (talk) 22:38, January 10, 2013 (UTC)

"Don't put former prices"Edit

Why not?

00:23, January 13, 2013 (UTC)

Well, they're useless (nobody really cares about the former price of a non-limited item), and the template doesn't support them. Only put them for limited items (the template knows that the item is limited, so it can know that this is the former price and not a newer price. Additionally, some items have many former prices. Former prices of non-limited items should be put in the article, though (for example, in a history section).
Also, never put numbers for tickets or ROBUX in any other format than raw numbers. This prevents the template from doing any calculation or format change whatsoever on the numbers. Never put text before or after the values or put them into parentheses. --Mark Otaris (talk) 00:48, January 13, 2013 (UTC)

Well, I guess I'll not put it on the template, and might put it outside the template. The template seems to be a little complex for these attributes as you said.

War Groups articleEdit

Just out of curiousity, why did you change the name of the War Groups article? The article is a list of war groups; it is not just about one.

Awesome444a444 (talk) 00:59, February 16, 2013 (UTC)

If an article is about something (like potatoes, computers or characters), it should be the subject's name in singular. If the article is a list of something, it should be named, for example, "List of potatoes".
In this case, it should indeed be named "List of war groups", and there should be another article called "War group" that would be about war groups in general, without containing a list of them. --Mark Otaris (talk) 00:30, February 18, 2013 (UTC)

Computer Edit

Hey Mark,

Is there any chance you leave your computer on all day/night? If you do, I want to have a discussion about something you may be able to get your bot to do (if you are willing). PeterPeter5000 (talk) 00:58, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

I usually shut my computer off, but I see no problem with leaving it on, and I can probably find some way to achieve the same effect without leaving it on all day and night. What's your idea? --Mark Otaris (talk) 01:04, March 5, 2013 (UTC)
I've been thinking about re-enabling chat. In the process, I would like to add a chat bot. I got all the codes, I just need someone who leaves their computer on all night. --PeterPeter5000 (talk) 12:34, March 5, 2013 (UTC)
The chat didn't really harm the wiki, so I guess it can be re-enabled. What would be the purpose of the bot? --Mark Otaris (talk) 19:44, March 5, 2013 (UTC)
It would be a chat logger, which would show what users posted on a log. I can show you examples later. --PeterPeter5000 (talk) 20:39, March 5, 2013 (UTC)

Ok, if you are willing to do this, I will be on chat for the next 40 minutes. --PeterPeter5000 (talk) 01:16, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

Deletion? Edit

Explain please? RbxQuenty (talk) 00:13, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

I didn't delete it, I moved it. I just changed the name to Template:Required class update. --Mark Otaris (talk) 00:16, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
Why in past tense then? Doesn't is currently require a class update? RbxQuenty (talk) 00:17, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
I put it in the past tense because it's the tense you put it in. All I did is uncapitalize the letters and add spaces. I'll move it again. --Mark Otaris (talk) 00:18, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
Arg. Go figure. So you use sentence-case in these sort of things? RbxQuenty (talk) 00:19, March 6, 2013 (UTC)
ROBLOX's API uses PascalCase because otherwise, we'd always have to access members with ["NAME"], since a.b only works if b doesn't contain spaces. When using MediaWiki, spaces don't matter, so why would we use PascalCase, which is hard to read, when we don't need to? --Mark Otaris (talk) 00:24, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

The Vaktovian Empire Edit

You edited The Vaktovian Empire page, but you removed the number of members (on accident?). I'll add it back, but I thought I'd let you know.

Narrated (talk) 00:41, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

Actually, pages of groups with less than 5,000 members shouldn't have the number of members because it'll be rounded to 0. Such pages should not actually exist, because groups with less than 10,000 members shouldn't exist, but there are exceptions. --Mark Otaris (talk) 01:16, March 6, 2013 (UTC)

Redirects Edit

Is there a reason you are deleting all the redirects to new articles? They are very useful. PeterPeter5000 (talk) 20:21, March 19, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not sure I understand what you mean, because new articles cannot exactly have redirects to them (since they're new), but am I right to assume that you are talking about the redirects deleted recently by my bot? If so, I actually deleted them after first changing all the links that pointed to them automatically. These redirects can actually be useful, and therefore there is nothing wrong with re-creating them if they are indeed for a very common item which there are many links to. I deleted them because there were (or are) over 1700 of them, which is a bit ridiculous, since almost all of them actually had nothing linking to them. --Mark Otaris (talk) 03:46, March 20, 2013 (UTC)

Your Thread Edit

Accounts are able to be hacked, although it isn't as easy as it formerly was.

Almost nobody knows how is why the term 'Account Hacking on ROBLOX is impossible' was made. In reality, only a few users, such as Brandon and some Palermo High Ranks know how to.

There hasn't been any bad account hackers since Brandon. Everybody who knows how to either doesn't use there powers or doesn't care, in some cases they will use it to take a bad user off of ROBLOX.

Please just stop them,

Administrator rightsEdit

Hey there,
Not long ago, I had administrator rights, but got demoted due to inactivity. I am thinking of returning and having administrator rights would be a huge help.

Thanks, Tiff or Nick (talk) 21:59, December 7, 2013 (UTC)

Before giving Tiff or Nick admin rights, please consider that he (or his brother) has vandalized Roblox Wiki before on atleast two of his accounts. These accounts were confirmed as sockpuppets here on Club Penguin Wiki. While I don't believe this should warrant him a ban from here, it may be a good idea to not give him admin rights for now. PeterPeter5000 (talk) 22:10, December 7, 2013 (UTC)
That's quite troubling. I have blocked all the accounts mentioned as sockpuppets there that had vandalized on this wiki. One of them had been banned for one month by Tiff or Nick, and the checkbox meant to prevent editing from the same IP address had been unchecked (as it is by default checked). I have blocked all the concerned accounts that had vandalized here indefinitely and prevented editing from the same IP address for logged-in users. This is surprising, but I've seen more surprising cases before on Wikipedia (cases that involved known administrators who had to be blocked because of repeated vandalism on later-discovered sockpuppets). We should assume good faith from Tiff or Nick until and unless we have further evidence, but if those accounts are indeed sockpuppets, then he should be prevented from editing already (unless he has a dynamic IP address that changes regularly or uses a proxy, although most of the open ones are blocked, I believe, by Wikia). Mark Otaris (talk) 19:31, December 8, 2013 (UTC)

A quick notice Edit

Just so you know, I am starting to delete any NCU pages that are found on the mainspace. I noticed that my efforts to move those pages on the userspace is fruitless, and many of the users who create those pages make no other edits other than that page creation. I am tired of wasting my time moving these pages, especially when these users refuse to read and obey the rules. Acebatonfan (talk) 23:55, December 13, 2013 (UTC)Acebatonfan

But it is quicker to just delete (and creates a lot fewer redirects -my laptop likes to skip over keys when I type). If I have time over break, I might see if I can work on an NCU-warning template... or place the wiki rules in bright, flashing, neon lights. :3
It is still the user's responsibility to follow the rules, and pages of frequent NCU violators and pages with minimal content (ex: acebatonfan is awesome/write second paragraph here/write third paragraph here) should be deleted. Acebatonfan (talk) 21:45, December 14, 2013 (UTC)Acebatonfan
Note that you can protect the pages to prevent them from being moved back to the main namespace (without protecting them from normal edition, of course). That'd be preferable to deleting them. Deleting them is fine, but moving them is better. If you really don't want to move them, then you can delete them; we can always undelete the page and move it to the user's space if the user requests so. Also, explaining the rules to users on their talk page and telling them what they did wrong can probably help. Don't feel obligated to do it, it's just an enhancement. -- Mark Otaris (talk) 01:38, December 14, 2013 (UTC)
