In some special occasion, some obbies may have obstacles in which players have to answer questions correctly throughout the chat to proceed within the obstacle course, complex stages and melee stages are common as well in group obstacle courses.
Recently, Builders Club members have been creating obbies which award Admin, ROBUX, or (previously) tickets, which many players believe is a scam because it is not possible to obtain ROBUX or tickets in-game. These types of obbies are commonly built with the stamper tool , and there is usually only one spawn location. Common obstacles that appear in Admin/ROBUX obbies include spike jumps and "water jumps". These types of games began to spawn around 2013, and were commonly seen on the front page until BC games were removed from the front page. Some of these games even have a maintenance GUI trying to steal the player's account.
Today, many obbies on the front page are basically, "misleading place images". For example, users might notice obbies with names of, "Escape The Ballpit Obby" or "Escape the ThemePark Obby". In reality, the title has nothing to do with the actual game.
There a lot of specifically "escape obbies" on ROBLOX since the community seems to enjoy those kind of games. Rather than just a
random obstacle course, in the escape versions, there is a story behind the game and the stages. For example, at "Escape School Obby", players will have to pass through stages located in the school, such as passing through the hallways, cafeteria, classrooms, without being caught. In "Escape Prison Obby", players will have to avoid the security guards, and go through cells, vents, helicopters and other related contents.
Common reoccurring obstacles
Obstacles that occur in the majority of the obstacle courses include:
- Lava Jumps/Checkers
- Platform Jumps
- A very long path
- Laser Jumps
- Pit Jumping
- Choose a Path
- Ball jumps
- Choose a door (if players go though the wrong one they die)
- Moving Lava (the moving lava is an obstacle introduced in the amazing world of gumball obby. The lava moves and players have to avoid it by jumping in the lava or waiting)
- Truss Climbing
- Speed Paths
- Tree Jumps
Due to a late update in 2012, most people find it extremely hard to overcome the "Invisible Path" obstacle, because they mainly click to move across the Invisible bricks. Also, players can check if the block is solid with your camera which makes it easier for players.
Paths, Superjump, Ice Shard (formerly), Ball Paths and Teleport are some of the most common tools at a Winner's Room.
Superjump and Teleport are often in old places nowadays. However, most of the old models have since been broken due to ROBLOX updates, making them no longer usable to players. Paths still work, however.
Paths are tools that can be used for obbies, usually awarded at the end of the obby. Paths come in many different types such as fire path, ice path or rainbow path. By holding down the left mouse button, players can create a series of bricks below them. Using this, they can "walk" towards locations without falling down out of the map.
Winners often use paths to make other people either win or lose (e.g. creating a path for players to cross to skip to another stage or to the winners area, or attempting to fling players out of the obby by trapping them inside the path).
Superjump is a tool that players can use to jump. By pressing the left mouse button, they can jump. The thing about it is that players can click as many times as they want to "fly" and hover towards locations.
Teleport is a tool that players can use to teleport. By pressing the left mouse button on the location they want to teleport by hovering it over their cursor, your player would teleport there.
A Ball Path is a tool like the original path but in a ball shape. There are currently 6 colours with the ball path and they are Red, Blue, Yellow, Purple, White and Rainbow.
In some obbies, at the end, you will see faces you can wear, hats you can wear, packages you can wear and hairs you can wear.
In some obbies, at the end, you will see green squares that say (e.g) 50% Speed. If you go on one square, the speed will make you go faster.
