Vandalism in Roblox Wiki

Introduction

Over the many months and years of Roblox Wiki, it has been a subject of various vandal attacks, some in a very small group (1-5 members), but also others in a rather large group (though all groups that have been encountered here have less than 20 users). Although vandals can attack a Wiki in a small or medium group of vandals, few vandals have been spotted vandalizing a Wiki alone. Regardless of the attacks, the Wiki has remained strong in their faith of stopping any offending vandals and fixing any damage done by them as soon as possible and remains so to this day.
Vandalism is the intentional damage/destruction and/or spoiling of other person/people's property. Sure, this Wiki, like many other wikis, have its fair share of vandals; many of the vandals that we encounter are short term vandals who may be subject to a reminder/warning and/or even a short ban from editing articles, user pages, talk pages, and/or account creating that lasts for a few days/weeks, depending on the severity of the vandal's actions, but some vandals that can be encountered in the Wiki can cause lots of damage to its pages and are subject to bans that can last for a few/several months, years, or even forever. Some of the possible reasons why vandals would attempt to vandalize a wiki may include to satisfy themselves out of rage and/or because they dislike the wiki's association with the topic(s) that the vandals dislike and would like to defame and/or destroy it.
Here are some of the signs of vandalism in an article:
- A part/entire content of article being entirely removed and possibly replaced with content that is irrelevant and/or profane/defames a certain topic.
- Some profanity and/or expletives that does not belong to the article unless the profanity is actually a part of the actual information.
- Gibberish words that are present in some or many sentences.
- Picture(s), which is/are usually raunchy/profane in terms of content, i.e. obscene gestures, promotion of racism, and sexual content of any kind, that does not belong to the article, yet is present in the article.
Should any of these be present in an article, the article should be reverted to the latest non-vandalized edit by a user as soon as it is spotted.
Major Vandal AttacksEdit
The vandal attacks shown below are some infamous examples of attacks on Roblox Wiki, with the perpentrators having various reasons for attacking the Wiki. These attacks have been known to have brought down the DEFCON (Defense Readiness Condition) level to 1 (the level representing the highest amount of alertness due to the amount of danger in the attack) or 2 (the second highest level of alertness). Note that the reports of major attacks here are added from time to time.
July 13, 2012Edit
One time, in July 13, 2012, A group of 12 vandals have vandalized the Roblox Wiki, half of who are anonymous vandals, with their IP addresses exposed. It's sad and frustrating at the same time for me to watch as the vandals wreak havoc at many of the articles in the Wiki and many other contributors who are contributing in this Wiki, such as moderators and administrators, attempted to revert the damage done by the vandals. One of the actual perpentrators of such a large vandal attack is the user whose actual IP address is 173.245.64.174; he controlled multiple IP adresses with the same first 8 numbers of his IP adress, all of which were eventually banned.
A small portion of Off Topic users from the Roblox Forums are partly to blame for some of the vandalizing of the Roblox Wiki; Many of Off Topic is basically plagued with many inappropriate people and trolls who would usually do very stupid things, such as attacking the Roblox Wiki.
August 7, 2012Edit
At another time, in August 7 (exactly 25 days after the July 13 vandalisms), 4 vandals have vandalized multiple pages in the Roblox Wiki. It is unknown if the 4 vandals are part of a small vandalism party and/or a large vandalism group/organization. Out of the four vandals, only one of the vandals was anonymous, but 3 of them were actual users. The usernames of the three vandals are, in the order of appearance for vandalism at the time:
The IP address of the anonymous vandal is 95.141.29.54.
All of the vandals who are named above had been either blocked or banned, as of today. All vandals mentioned above had never done any other actions in the Roblox Wiki since then.
On another note, at the time of Trolololololol021010101's and Robear22's vandalism, I single-handedly reverted their vandal actions as best as I could, even when Trolololololol021010101 had attacked my user page.
October 13, 2012Edit
Later on, in October 13, 2012 (which is exactly 3 months since the July 13 mass vandalism), at least 5 vandals had attacked the Wiki via vandalism on various pages in the Roblox Wiki in one day, though it is still unknown whether or not they are part of a vandal group/party. 4 of these vandals are anonymous, and their IP addresses are:
- 24.63.144.94 (performed 5 vandal actions, 3 in the Exploits page and 2 in the user page of a Wikia user named BetterSkatez).
- 2.217.94.129 (performed only 2 vandal actions, one each on the Rules (Disambiguation) page and the Crimson Fighter page).
- 24.185.73.7 (THE worst offender of the anonymous vandals in October 13, with a whopping 27 vandal actions on 27 different pages).
- 99.237.16.79 (THE worst offender of the anonymous vandals who had vandalized in the middle of October, with a massive 33 vandal edits on 30 different pages, including 2 articles that are related with the Roblox Wiki and a user page. The vandal had begun his vandal activity when little to no Roblox users had been active in the Wiki at October 14, 2012, which is 1 day after the mass vandalism).
The only user vandal who had vandalized the page is Bacooonn, who had made 4 contributions in the Roblox Wiki on 4 separate pages, only one edit in a page named Ajedi32 causing himself to be considered as a vandal.
Most if not all of the vandals mentioned above had been banned for 1 month, with the exception of 24.185.73.7, who had been banned for 6 months, which means that the ban will expire in April 13, 2013.
November 25, 2012Edit
Next, in November 25, 2012 (1 month and 2 days after the October vandalism), a total 10 vandals had attacked Roblox Wiki, bringing the DEFCON level in Roblox down to a 1 (the highest level of danger in the DEFCON level). 8 of the vandals were anonymous, although only 2 of the 10 vandals were actual users. The users are WikiROBLOXeditorer and ZangooseSlash. The anonymous vandals were:

- 174.84.201.200
- 24.46.193.64
- 94.59.221.165
- 71.199.90.80
- 24.131.20.128
Most of the vandals were banned for at least 1 month, although some were banned for 1-3 days. ZangooseSlash, unlike other vandals in the vandal party, is banned forever, due to him being the one to have suspected to lead the party. Rumors were brought up in the Wiki that the group members have been at least involved on the Off Topic category of the Roblox Forums before, a commonly disliked forum category in Roblox.
December 23, 2012Edit
Flashing forward to December 23, 28 days after the November 25 attacks, 7 vandals, nearly all of whom were anonymous users, yet only one of the participating vandals was an actual user named Yahooie7, who was previously on good standing with the Wiki prior to the attack, had attacked many pages, primarily targetting a few group pages, more specifically Urban Assault Forces, and to a lesser extent, Team Domino. All 6 anonymous vandals were banned for 6 months, with the exception of the user vandal, Yahooie7, who was banned for only 1 week. The vandal attacks lasted for only approximately 40 minutes shortly before the fight was over.
December 31, 2012Edit
Moving on to December 31, 8 days after the December 23 vandalism, 4 vandals have attacked the Wikia, though most of them attacked at different times. Out of the 4 vandals, 3 of these were anonymous.
The anonymous vandals, the amount of edits made, what they did on the day, and how long they are banned are:
- 74.109.241.215- Made a total of 4 edits. Had specifically targeted the Juststeven page (vandalizing the page 3 times). Was banned from the Wikia for 3 days.
- 68.96.182.117- Made a total of 10 edits. Particularly attacked many group pages, including F.E.A.R.. WIJ, and the United Clan of Roblox. Was banned from the Wikia forever.
- 76.30.110.43- Made 7 edits. Had targeted all of the edits on the Outbreak Survival page. Was banned from the Wikia for 2 weeks.
The 4th vandal, Coolnamehere234, an actual user, made a total of 15 vandal edits, 1 of which was on a user page. He was, unfortunately, banned from the Wikia for 99 years, or, literally, forever.
January 6, 2013Edit
6 days later, on January 6, 2013, a total of 5 vandals were banned for attempts of defaming TwoShue, a popular user in Roblox. 2 of these mentioned vandals were anonymous; they were:
All of the anonymous users mentioned above were banned for 1 year.
The 3 actual users who had participated in the attack were:
Lilalexq22 and ImEdd were both banned for 1 year like the anonymous vandals, but Cdlobban, who was a repeat vandal prior to the January 6 attack, was banned forever.
February 24, 2013Edit
Moving onwards to February 24, 2013, 2 vandals have been spotted attacking the Wiki, specifically targetting pages that mentions the infamous user Tadcool, particularly the Tadcool page itself, Nacht Der Untoten, Sharks and Minnows, and Players with the Most Visits. The 2 offenders were an anonymous user with the IP address 184.98.214.205 and a user who is under the name Tadcoolroblox. 184.98.215.205 had made a total of 19 vandal edits on 7 different pages and a user page prior to being banned and Tadcoolroblox had made 9 vandal edits on 3 different pages and a user page before being banned for 3 days. Looking from the vandal edits that the 2 users did, they appear to be very defensive of Tadcool, denying his actual infamy in the edits. It is unknown whether or not the vandal Tadcoolroblox was actually controlled by the real Tadcool.
April 11, 2013Edit
Next, on April 11, 2013, 46 days after the February 24, 2013 vandalisms, a single anonymous user with the IP Address 97.107.97.90 had made a total amount of 60 vandal edits, or 59 in one day prior to being banned, with 31 of it being on spamming in the Roblox Wiki forums, 26 on attacking the profile and talk pages of 4 users, 2 on two different actual articles (Outbreak Survival and Badge, with the Badge page being vandalized on April 3), and one miscellaneous edit. The vandal usually vandalizes by removing the contents of a portion or all of a page. Currently, the vandal is banned from the Wiki for 5555 years by an administrator named Wookee8wikiperson for making 60 vandal edits.
